For my second trip for the summer of 2020 I chose Kythnos, a small island of Cyclades in Greece. We had actually arranged this trip with Haris for May, but due to Covid-19 we had to change our plans. Eventually we booked our tickets for early July. We stayed there for 2 nights and after checking in at Canal Suites Kythnos we found out that it’s the best resort on the island!
LOCATION
The hotel is located in Kanala, one of the most beautiful towns of Kythnos, at the south-east of the island. Staying there, you are literally 2 minutes away from Panagia Kanala, a beautiful church of great importance for the island surrounded by a small pine forest and just above a magical beach with crystal blue waters. Also you can reach the main town (Chora) in 15 minutes and Loutra thermal springs in 30 minutes by car. A super-important asset is the fact that there is a supermarket just above the hotel, as well as a few cafes and dining options including the best restaurant on the island called Archipelagos. Last but not least, the area has great clean beaches to offer, such as Antonides and Megali Ammos.
THE SUPERIOR SUITE WITH SEA VIEW
From the moment we stepped foot in our Superior Suite, we were impressed by the modern design and decorations. Large and comfy bed, exotic wallpapers, modern lights and rose-gold colors were the main characteristics of our room. The washbasin was placed outside of the bathroom, exactly next to our bed. Combined with the Pinterest-goal round mirror above it and all the self-care products that it provided, it definitely was the most modern touch I’ve ever seen!
Our suite also had a large balcony with a sea view. We had our breakfast there each morning soaking the amazing views. You can book your own suite here.
THE POOL
The hotel also offers a pool with a jacuzzi. We took a quick dip on our second morning there and the experience was so relaxing! There are beach towels available on the beds around the pool, so don’t worry if you forget to bring your own 😉
THE BREAKFAST IN BED
The breakfast was another highlight of Canal Suites. The procedure is that each day you get a menu and you write down what you would like to have for breakfast the next day and at what time. Then, the next morning the breakfast comes into your room and you can enjoy it in bed or in the balcony! How cool is that? 🙈 And let’s not talk about the breakfast itself; everything honestly tastes heavenly and the variety is so large that will contain for sure whatever you might want!
THE COCKTAIL BAR
Did anyone say cocktail? You’ll find any that you like at the bar of Canal Suites, just above the pool. The staff was so kind and brought us the most delicious and special cocktails ever – mine had cinammon, passion fruit and rum and tasted heavenly, even though I normally don’t like rum! It also contained egg whites, if you believe this! Haris had a variation of the classic Aperol and loved it too!
Overall, checking in at Canal Suites Kythnos exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend that you book your suite there if you make your way to Kythnos! Thank you for everything and promise to come back again!
